I haven't really been able to find the right words..Just feeling likewe should've loved him the way that we're loving him, while he wasstill here. I was anticipating his return, his new album, everything!But certainly I hope that they put out the new music soon. He deservedto be on top, and loved. His spirit accomplished what he had purelyasked for.

        

Welcome my friends old and new! On this year's Father's Day, I want you to first of all, celebrate the great fathers that surround you. Greatness comes in many shapes and sizes and I'm hoping that all fathers are experiencing the love they graciously give away. As a Mother to two young boys, I am thinking that I may currently be raising future fathers and acknowledge and love that fact. I also want to thank my husband for sorting his way through life without losing sight of his love for his sons. I know that my sons are well-rounded and grounded by his heart and although men speak LOVE in a different variety than women, I know it is felt and I know it is there..I feel it myself!

So I've been rebirthing and taking the time to flow into a space where it all makes sense. Since the last time we spoke, much has happened in life, in the world, in our own pieces of reality. Development comes with many pits many turns and plenty of fears being faced. My inspiration to speak with you and grow with you again, came from seeing that I have so much to share with you now! I've seen that our connection has inspired development and because of that I KNEW that I had to come back and refresh as often as possible.

I want to thank a loving sweet spirit, Miss Tanya C. aka TLC for asking me such a wonderful question..a question that I felt I could not be answered without your input.

Hi sis! I was wondering if you could tell me what sending light means? I notice that you say that at the end of messages or blogs or whatever. What does that come from?

LIGHT. Well, before I can answer why I send it, I have to describe to you what I believe light to be. Light is the very core of our essence. Before our bodies formed inside our mother's bodies, there was a God-given, Universal force creating us.Something much deeper, much more invinsible and much more powerful than any organs, blood vessels, cells or atoms could ever aspire to be. These are the end result to a process led by..LIGHT. Light is the basis of our creation and lives in the spaces. Between our breaths and carries our souls. I believe that light is the essence of our guidance. When we are led by our spirit in loving ways, we are led by our light. When we are willing to follow our spirit, it is our light that leads the way. Whether this means cooking a heartfelt meal, or giving a helping hand to someone you know needs it, you are spreading your light. When we create with our hearts' desire, we are creating with this light. When we sing, draw, paint, play an instrument, play a sport, decorate our space, feel inspired to clean up around the house, work with more enthusiasm or simply take a momnet to write our feelings, we are excuding light. We are summoning the light and allowing the light to guide us through.

Light is what walks with you through pain, through hurt and through hardships. Light is what makes you vibrant with love and joy when others need it most. Light is when we decide to sit in silence. Light is everything that guides, illuminates and loves.

I'd like to hear your thoughts and know if you have your own definitions of Light. My life's principles are guided by Light and I am forever grateful and eternally loving the feeling of Light in my space. Harnessing light is all that ever truly matters.

HOW NATALIE STEWART GOT HERE...xx

I was born in the midst of a record breaking winter…in Germany…5 years after my sister, and 7 years after my brother…February, (of course!), the 13th, (well naturally!!), AQUARIUS, (what else!?!)...to my Jamaican born, British raised parents!...A historical event all around…Daddy had to be flown in, all autobahns were closed…oh, and did I mentioned that I was born at a record breaking (for said hospital) healthy, weight of 11lbs 4oz!...SO…I caught my first plane at thirteen days of age! (I had to change my surroundings!)

England…13 days – 2 ½ years...
I have many memories that fall within this period, pretty vivid one’s to! You’d be surprised, sometimes I feel like I can see out of my old new eyes!...THEN…

Hong Kong…2 ½ years – 5 years...
Now these years I remember from the actual flight (British Calendonian, when they still used to let you go and visit the pilot!), and the thickness of the heat in Dubai where we changed flights, all the way through to learning to swim, Lion Rock, starting school, Gregory Issacs’ Night Nurse album and many, many more moments…I LOVED THIS PART OF MY LIFE IMMENSELY!...THEN…

England 5 years – 7 years...
Now when I say England, I mean Reading, Arborfield, countryside and safety!...(These are the years that I served in the British Armed Forces…0-7…I was a vet by 7)...THEN…CIVILIAN LIFE…where better to start than…LONDON…7 years – 21 years...

What can I say about London, other than...London…what can I say!?!

Ladybug Mecca

Supreme lady lyricst, Ladybug Mecca chats with Ana K. on upcoming projects, the evolution of her own soul and the inspiration behind some of her deepest tracks.

"I want listeners to come into my world," says Mecca of her solo debut, Trip The Light Fantastic, on the independent, self-determining Nu-Paradigm Entertainment. "I'd like them to feel they've entered into a new dimension, somewhere they've been before but can't remember yet."

Mecca's world is a place filled with love, brightness and optimism, a location where genres are broken and spirits are lifted. "I am here to make a difference," states the sensuous singer and rapper about her life and art. "I've always been fascinated by things that are innovative, and at this point in my life I'm about expressing everything I'm about."

She is a feminine woman who is regularly rewriting her agreement with reality. She's constantly striving to educate and better herself, always reaching for development, but very aware of her past.

Prominent in Mecca's history is her role in Digable Planets, a communal clan of poet-rappers that made "hip-hop bebob" popular in the '90s. Alongside her two male partners she burst onto the scene like a quiet storm, blowing away expectations and defining a new stance for ladies who followed on the mike. "Mecca The Ladybug makes great strides in proving women in rap don't need to scream and swagger in order to be tough and assertive," wrote Larry Flick in Billboard magazine. "Mecca never raises her voice but always is a commanding figure."

The crew's 1993 unveiling, Reachin' (a new refutation of time and space), sold platinum and included samples from Curtis Mayfield, Sonny Rollins and other pacesetters. The single "Rebirth Of Slick ("Cool Like Dat) was a Top 10 smash that won a Grammy award for Best Rap Performance by a duo or group.  The trio also scored one Billboard award, among other accolades, and toured the world with the likes of Sade. Its follow-up, Blowout Comb, followed the group's creative light to another singular level of inspiration.

Next came some reordering and reorganizing for Mecca. She entered into several unfulfilling associations before deciding to create the album she wanted on her own terms. "There were so many people trying to impose their wills on me," she remembers. "I just wanted the freedom of an independent situation, and that's what I have with Nu-Paradigm."

Mecca has seen lots and grown greatly in her short life. She has worked minimum-wage jobs and been a star. She has cried over the loss of both her parents and celebrated the birth of three children.

Family is important to her, but she's not sheltered from the realities of life. She's spiritually minded but has a witty intellect.

On Trip The Light Fantastic she bares soul and explores her journey from innocence into sense. She pairs her thoughtful words with an eclectic blend of music: breezy Afro-Brazilian rhythms cross-pollinate with hip-hop beats; fiery rock riffs and post-bop blue notes meet and prosper.

Co-produced and overseen by Mecca and Nu Paradigm CEO Nkosi Gray, the set features Martin Luther, and producers include Shane Conry, Isreal, Sa-Ra, from San Francisco-based Rebel Soul Music. 

All in all, Trip The Light Fantastic celebrates life. As Mecca told writer Cheo Hodari Coker: "Creating music is like giving birth, and your baby is a gift to the world."

That child is an instrument of peace, and Trip The Light Fantastic sends "peace out" to the planet.
